The Right Question To Achieve Your Goals
By Douglas
Fullington, MD

There is
a word that can dramatically change your
life. Everyone knows the word. Every one
uses the word several times a day. It is
a short word that packs a punch.
Properly utilized, it will help you
accomplish anything you decide to do.
The word is only three letters, and it
is usually the first word of the
question. The word is how.
Close cousins of how - who, what, when,
where and why are also important as
Rudyard Kipling explains in his poem in
the Just So Stories:
I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.
But you know the answers to the
questions of who, what, when, where, and
why. You know who you are and who you
want to become. You know, or at least
have an idea of what you want to do with
your life. You know when you need to
start. You know where you are and you
know why you want to do it. But you may
not know how.

Allergy Tips - Living With Food Allergies
By
Matt Hick
Living
with food allergies isn't as hard as it used to be. With so many people all over
the world showing signs of allergies today, many food manufacturers have seen
the benefit of offering a variety of food substitutes to help make life (and
eating) easier for those with sensitive systems.
While living with food allergies may be easier these days, it can
still be quite dangerous, depending on the severity of your
symptoms. For some, coming in contact (any contact) with certain
food allergens (such as peanuts, or even peanut oil), can make them
very sick - or even kill them! So, what are the most common food
culprits?

Mind, Body & Spirit:
Forgiveness - Releasing Guilt
By
Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD
Being
able to accept what is or what you might perceive to be wrong can be
a difficult task. We are taught to accept that it is normal to feel
guilty or shame about our actions and that by doing so we will make
everything seem right within ourselves. Even though you might think
you have reason to admonish yourself for the choices you made, it is
more important to learn how to deal with them in a healthy way, such
as through understanding and forgiveness.
When you look back at your past and assess how you navigated the
vicissitudes in your life, you might realize that there are many
dimensions to your actions. While feeling guilty might assuage your
feelings at first, it is only a short-term solution. It is ironic that
being hard on yourself is the easy way out. If you truly are able to
look at your life through the lens of compassion, however, you will be
able to see that there is more to what you do and have done than you
realize.

Words Of Inspiration:
What The Clouds Have To Teach Me
By Laura M. Turner
I
was having dinner with a friend of mine recently. During our conversation
she asked of me, "Laura, I thought I knew what I wanted. I'm still not sure
of my choices. How do I know what are the best decisions for me?"
Of course, I'm never sure I have the right answer for anything (I may as
well admit this to you right away). I can only know what's right for me. And
that answer is always the same: follow the clouds. And this I told
her. "For me," I said, "the clouds hold the secrets to my life. And so does
all of nature."
It's true. Looking back, life, for me, has been a kind-of canoe ride...
paddle a little, drift a little and always keep the boat close to shore. I
generally do follow the clouds too, and always, always move with the tide.
Yes, dear readers, after all my years on earth, this is the best I can do.
This is all the information I have available. So I do hope you will read
forward, and not find yourself disappointed. Yet, I can tell you this: this
formula, when I've followed it, hasn't failed me yet. And when I've strayed
from this path I've paid... and quite dearly I will admit.

The Right Carbs
Can Help You Lose - Antidepressant-Related Weight
Gain
By Judith J.
Wurtman, PhD, and Nina Frusztajer Marquis, MD
Authors of
The Serotonin Power Diet
Audrey,
in her 30’s, is typical of people who experience medication-induced weight gain.
“I never ate junk food until 6 months ago, when I started taking medication for
my depression,” she related. “In college, I used to feel superior to my friends
who lived on chocolate cupcakes and French fries. I was the health-food queen, a
regular at the salad bar. Now I can’t stop myself from gorging on packaged cakes
and even – I can’t believe I’m going to say it – canned frosting. I’ve packed on
35 pounds – and the cravings won’t stop.”
For millions of people on antidepressants, weight gain is a depressing side
effect of what can otherwise be an extremely effective remedy for depression.
Weight gain can range from several pounds to 30, 40, or even more. Sometimes the
weight gain happens immediately and other times it occurs after 6 months or a
year after starting pharmacologic therapy.
