reSTYLEing your LIFE: A Review
By Laura M. Turner
In
life, our greatest gift to the Creator (in my opinion) is to become more of
ourselves. Yet, to find our authentic "self" involves a lengthy and often painful process of peeling
away many layers. This means uprooting and dealing directly with hurts, disappointments and
troubles of the past.
Is it any wonder, with all this heavy lifting, so many of these
challenges remain undone? However (speaking for myself) as painful a process as it is,
when gone unattended, my life (at a
conscious or subconscious level) reflects the omission.
Thankfully, there are many enlightened souls in our midst who can both ask the
hard questions and take some of the weight from the task. By giving us just the
facts and offering simple exercises, these chosen few can guide us to the core of our being.
This to raise consciousness and
help us get our lives back on track.
With this said, author, Mary White, is one such enlightened being.
In her short volume reSTYLEing your LIFE, she tackles the quest of bringing
all of us back to what is really important. No, it's not about pleasing your
spouse or your parents - it's about getting to the the
nucleus of who you are and
then being honest about it.
Inspired by the 12-Step process, White has penned a guide that will
help all to become better at who they are. Hers is a 12 point reflection
that, when taken one step at a time, can truly reform and reset your life.
It all comes down to this: accepting where you are right now and reflecting on who
you'd like to become. And when we can identify each, the quest becomes
far less
difficult.
The hard part then, comes when we take a microscopic view of ourselves. Especially if you're
new to the process or are just realizing
that there is something "more." Again, speaking for myself, when I
take the time for an up close view of my life, there is always a new trail
to blaze. Yet, in
my opinion, the gifts
that come from this uncovering process are far too many to avoid the work.
For when we unearth the trouble spots, we can both prevent larger problems from
happening later, as well as begin to heal. Yet, once the process has
begun, White reminds us, it then becomes only a matter of periodical
fine-tuning.
reSTYLEing your LIFE will also show you how to:
-
break out of your comfort zone and live
the life you imagine for yourself
-
learn to accept things as they are and how to
trust your inner power
-
accept that you, and only you, can make yourself happy
-
learn the importance of taking
responsibility for yourself
-
and much more.
If you invest the hour it takes to read White's manual, then apply her
principles to your life one-by-one, I think you will find this short
volume can be the big catalyst for changing your life today, tomorrow and always .
Like a welcome friend, it is there for you when ever you should need it.
Both to take
your self back into the spiritual workshop for a bit of fine tuning and to
help you achieve the rewards of
unearthing what matters most and make your life worth living.
